Job Summary:
As a Production Superintendent, you will lead and coordinate a multi-shift production team to ensure operations run efficiently and effectively. This role requires strong leadership to manage Production Supervisors, optimize workflows, uphold quality and safety standards, and drive continuous improvement throughout the plant. You will play a critical role in achieving production goals while fostering a high-performance culture and maintaining flexibility to meet changing business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Drive Operational Efficiency: Monitor daily and weekly yields, efficiency, and profitability metrics. Take corrective action when needed and manage staffing and production schedules to align with demand and optimize resources.
Promote Safety & Ergonomics: Implement safety and ergonomic initiatives. Train employees on safe work practices, identify and mitigate hazards, and work toward an injury-free environment.
Ensure Quality & Compliance: Enforce sanitation, quality, and customer service standards to comply with USDA and company regulations. Conduct regular line meetings to ensure expectations are clear and consistently met.
Lead Training & Development: Train supervisors and employees on company policies and procedures. Promote continuous improvement and performance development through coaching, mentoring, and regular feedback.
Provide Leadership & Team Support: Serve as a role model on the production floor. Motivate and guide teams to remain focused on operational goals, promoting a respectful and collaborative work culture.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proven leadership experience, including training, coaching, or managing staff or processes.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and other business software, such as SAP and timekeeping systems.
Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, including yield optimization, efficiency improvements, and procedural compliance.
Familiarity with OSHA, USDA, and HACCP standards.
Bilingual communication skills are a plus.
Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, dynamic environments and to foster a team-oriented culture.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Work takes place in both office and production environments.
Exposure to wet or humid conditions, extreme temperatures, moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals.
Noise level can be loud in production areas; hearing protection is required.
Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Frequent physical activity including standing, walking, reaching, handling materials, kneeling, crouching, and communication.
